In light of the recent election, I’d like to reiterate the old parable where wisdom takes a back seat when our eyes become overly fixated on the prize. Whether it involves doomed star-crossed lovers or nibbling one more tiny slice of cake, the end results are usually disastrous. We point out how “love covers a multitude of sin” in looking past dangerous red flags and cozying up with the devil. But we forget that “love can be blind” too; particularly when it is based upon self-seeking obsession. Time will tell the difference, just as it always has. Hopefully, we will be ready to learn lessons and adjust attitudes accordingly by then.
